"When learning about Muslims and their religion, I was inspired how similar their religion is to mine. I thought Muslim was a culture, but it's a faith. I didn’t know why females wear scarfs around their heads and why they cover their bodies, and also why the male clothes were different. I had many questions before this project but didn’t know where to get my answers. Now, I am able to see the truth about Muslims;  but not the way the social media or the news talks about Muslims."

A poem by Zainab Zainel

Just because I’m Muslim

Doesn’t mean I am terrorist
Doesn’t mean I kill
And doesn’t mean I bomb

Just because I’m Muslim
Doesn’t mean I’m different
Doesn’t mean I’m forced to wear a hijab
And doesn’t mean I’m oppressed
Picture

Just because I’m Muslim
Doesn’t mean I’m not a dreamer
Doesn’t mean I have no voice
And doesn’t mean I can’t change the world

Just because I’m Muslim
Why do people have to be judgmental?
Why does the world have to be like that?
Why do people have to be stereotyped?
Islam is all about peace
